I ordered 2 of these to go along my stairs and they look great. Has a modern/industrial look which fits what I was going for in my decorations.

Just installed 3 of these, like them very much. Very contemporary, perfectly matches my ultra-contemporary style in a bedroom and living room. Matches well with the Modern Fan Company cirrus ceiling fan. Light throw can be adjusted in all directions. I mated these with the Leviton 6161-W 500 W, 120 VAC, Decora Style 4 Level Dimmer, White (5 buttons for off, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%), and it works and looks great. Included 35w halogen lamp puts out a decent amount of light but not too much, perfect for a bedroom.
Only thing to note is finish is 'satin steel', does not really match brushed aluminum or stainless steel finish, is a different kind of finish (and maybe a little cheaper looking, but hey, for 42 bucks, who's complaining).
For the money, a great contemporary wall/ceiling fixture.

This fixture is hard to find in the big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes. The fixture is great compared to others because it incorporates an electronic ballast that starts the lamp instantly and runs silently. The lamps last a very long time as compared to other fixtures. Since the lamps are very expensive, that is very important to me.

Bought as a replacement for older style flourescent fixture. Swap out was straightforward except for the original was installed with the wires about 1/2 way between the center knockout and the end knockout, and they were not long enough to reach the wiring in the new fixture. So I had to drill a new "knockout" to connect. I wasn't use to seeing the internal wiring so short in this type of fixture.

I needed a 18" light fixture to hold my UV bulb for my bearded dragon's (lizard) habitat. It worked perfectly. Despite the fixture's plastic body (which I preferred as it was more light weight and easier to mount) it's build quality is just fine. It has 2 sets of mounting holes allowing it to be mounted on the wall or ceiling.
For those interested in using this fixture for their reptile, and are using a glass vivarium, I recommend mounting it with 2 or 3 3M all weather velcro-style strips ( [...]). These worked perfectly for me. I also used a Zoo Med Reptisun 10.0 18" UV bulb ( [...] ). Zoo Med has great bulbs but I find their light fixtures and other accessories very cheaply made. This fixture is 10x better than Zoo Med's own fixture and it's cheaper. You'll want to mount the fixture inside the vivarium, but out of reach of your reptile. Having UV bulbs sitting on top of screens can block a significant portion of your UV light. For the same reason, you'll want to forgo using the included light cover with this fixture.

Electronics died before 2 months. It looked good and was working and then all of a sudden nothing at all. I replaced the bulb hoping that was the problem,plugged into another electric outlet.
No.. the electronics had died. I do not recommend buying. Complete waste of money and time.

Used this to put 2 CFLs in that high socket to get more light - and it works!
Put a little WD40 on a paper towel and wipe the threads of this - and on the lamp sockets so they'll be easier to remove in a couple of years when they burn out. It keeps the lamps from seizing up.

I've been looking for an adapter like this for long time, finally I found it on Amazon. Just received and assembled this product today. I'm not sure why others have posted about poor quality and flimsy construction of this product. I am very satisfied with the construction and sturdiness. This product is exactly what I expected for the price, product description, and pictures.
I did notice that there are 3 very similar hydrofarm 4 foot grow systems listed on amazon, with a $15 price-range difference. This is the most expensive of the three. The only difference I can tell from the written description is that this product is described as having a premium light fixture. The pictures look the same. One of the other 4 foot hydrofarm systems received a few positive reviews.
Assembly required a philips head screwdriver, pair of pliers, and about 5 minutes of my time. One screw is used to connect each of the two vertical supports to the base cross-bars. Due to the shape and construction of the parts, this fit is tight and secure. Then each of the vertical side bars slips into the top piece (metal button is pressed and then releases into a hole on the top piece). Then you attach the light fixture itself, by hooking nylon string with s hooks attached to the top to either end of the light fixture. Pliers are used to close s hooks. The light is raised and lowered with the nylon string, very similar to a heavy venetian blind. It would be nice if the nylon string were a tad thicker, but it is sufficient for the job.
Overall, I am very happy with this product and would recommend it.

I have had this light set-up for a few years now, and still love it. The original fluorescent fixture conked out after 2 or 3 years' use, but a $10 shoplight fixture from a hardware store replaced it seamlessly. The stand is very light, and slightly aggravating to put together the first time, but it does the job beautifully. It is the easiest to adjust of all lighting systems I've used, allowing one-handed movement of the light up or down, making it great for seed starting. The one-handed-ness is made possible via some coiled metal strips within the cross-bar that create tension on the two strings or chains that connect to the sides of the light fixture. If you have to remove the fluorescent fixture for bulb replacement or storage, I recommend that you hook the two strings or chains to one another to avoid having to reassemble the tensioning mechanism, which can be annoying.
This, plus a few heat mats and a small fan on a timer are all I've needed to start and grow thousands of strong seedlings in my tiny apartment, populating the neighborhood with flowers and veges for years now!

UDPATE on January 28th, 2012: Please make sure you get the correct replacement bulbs. I had a scare when it was brought to my attention that the lamp did not take 25watts, but 15. You can use 15 watts, but the lamp does take 25 watt candelabra bulbs, this is according to the manufacturer tag that is on the basket lamp cord. Please see the photo gallery as I took a picture of the tag on the basket lamp. Thank you!
I wanted to give you a video review of this salt rock lamp from when I removed it from the box and opened it. This lamp along with the other salt rock lamps is so beautiful! I hope this video will show setting up the lamp and how salt rock lamps differ due to the cut of the salt rock (s).

This is amazing. I love it. It looks so pretty at night and is very relaxing.

This product was an easily install, for a direct replacement of a similar model (sans outlet). The grounded outlet is a great addition, in my basement, where outlets are limited. This lamp is in my tool area, so I can always count on having an outlet to work from, if all others are in use.
The only negative is that it's not made in the USA, but it's hard to find things like that nowadays, in many product categories.

This box is surprisingly well made, and a great price. My brother recently got a dozen of this type and I helped him install them in his shed. He got them at one of the big-box stores. The quality was so poor, some were unusable. The metal in the back where the wiring screws attach was so thin and flimsy that it twisted right out of the flimsy rivet that was holding it to the ceramic. This Leviton box is 100% better; heavy solid metal; better, smoother switch at the pull chain. Much better quality than the ones carried at the big box.

I am very happy with this purchase and the matching bathroom lights I ordered as well. Looks great in my hallway with my new paint! Perfect match with the brushed bronze. And the prices were great on these. I paid far less online than I was finding them in stores.

I ordered a couple of these for a new home office. I was expecting a basic fixture made out of cheap metal and plastic, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the sconce is made of glass, and the whole fixture actually looks really nice. One thing my electrician mentioned was that the fixture didn't work properly with the provided nuts for attaching it to the wall using a standard round box, so he had to use screws instead. Other than that, I've seen fixtures at 3x the price that didn't look any better than these.

I bought this fixture for my study because I loved the contemporary look and the fact that it was Energy Star rated. It completely updated the look of the room, and I get complements on it all the time. It was also very easy to install. Great product!

Bought 2 of these. Installed them with the bracked that lowers them away from the ceiling. Fairly easy to install. Light is not quite as bright as I expected ; a little on the "cold" side, but quite satisfactory for an 18 ft long hallway (both fixtures). They look great. Not the most durably constructed, but how often do you handle a ceiling light?! We are happy with them ; feel we got a bargain when you compare other models of similar style. Delivery was no problem ; I would reccommend this light.

This is a very nice item for the price. The amber glass is the nicest part and doesn't look cheap like I was worried about. As for the metal rim, it is a painted on faux finish. It may look a little cheap from up close, but once it is installed on the ceiling you can't tell the difference between this and a slightly more expensive fixture. Definitely a good deal overall.

we bought this light for $18ish and it is worth the money. It was well represented on the website and exactly what we expected and wanted. It was relatively easy to install and it is not particularly remarkable which is what we were looking for.

Ok, so I'm a college student and I needed a lamp for a desk that was not well lit. I was also looking for full spectrum lamps which are my favorite since the light mirrors natural light. I first bought the Normnde Full spectrum lamp thinking it was such a great deal for such a low price. The Normnde lamp was crap, after reading the reviews left on the product I thought they might have just got the defected ones and I might not be so unlucky. but the product was merely crap, the crane was loose and broken at the bottom where the crane joins the base. The material felt cheap and like it would snap with little force. So I sent it back to amazon for a refund and bought this lamp instead. BEST choice I've made. the on/off switch is touch sensitive and VERY responsive. the base is VERy solid and stable. the crane reaches far and the joins near the lamp could be turned to. So basically anywhere you put the lamp you can choose to illuminate any specific area. The light is really bright so it doesn't cause any eye strains after reading for 6+ hrs. basically if your looking for a full spectrum lamp and you don't want to pay the overly exaggerated prices that some companies place on their products, this is it. it has everything and its rock solid.

The desk lamp does what it says. I use it daily work since I am stuck in a cubicle with no windows and florescent lights. The light is not harsh or distracting. I would buy it again and would tell my family and friends to purchase the lamp.

I was so excited to get these, and I ordered the whole set to replace all the lighting in my house. All of the other lights have been wonderful, but these have let me down a bit. Why? Well, the way the 3 curling arms are built, it is very difficult to get them aligned enough to look right. The middle shaft first has to be straightened to it is perpendicular to the ceiling, and then each of the 3 arms takes some wiggling and maneuvering. Otherwise, they stick out funny or are too far from the glass. I originally ordered 5, but returned 3 of them in exchange for the Hardware House 543744 Berkshire 12-Inch by 5-1/2-Inch Ceiling Lighting Fixture Oil-Rubbed Bronze.
Also, a note about the whole set--many oil-rubbed bronze pieces have a sort of brushed look over all the metal work, but these lights only have the effect on the edges. It looks good still and matches well enough with my faucets, etc., but if you are going for perfection in your coordination, you might want to be aware of that.

We moved from a house to an apartment in a retirement community. We replaced 5 "institutional" looking florescent fixtures with these Berkshire ceiling fixtures. They look great and were VERY reasonable. I installed them myself, and added rheastat switches for a nice adjustable soft light when bright lighting is not needed.

The lamp is every bit as good as described. The vendor shipped as promised. However the lamp needed assembly and there was no instructions included and it was packed sloppily as if it was re-packaged. There was no damage to the product however

Instructions could help save a bit of time on the sequence of assembling. Assemble top parts and then join to the base. The shades are white colored plastic (not glass) and does not look that great on day light. When lit, the lamp looks nicer. I would have preferred frosted glass shades
